Another option: try layering three chains and knotting them 6-8 inches apart.</p>
<p>(Drilling: support the shell by taping it down with masking tape and putting molding clay underneath it. Mark the placement of the hole with a pencil and use a 1/8th in drill bit adding as little pressure as possible. Keep the drill on the lowest speed. )</p>
